Native wine varieties

Here, in the red Istrian soil, Coronica vineyards and vines are growing, and, as far as the nature allows, the highest possible quality grapes of our indigenous varieties – predominantly Istrian Malvasia and Teran. Most of the time we are committed to working with these two varieties. They have always told a story about the Coronica family as Istrian farmers, contadini, who have been taking care of the land just as if it was one of their own family - because it is indeed precisely that, and has been - for decades!

Depending on the method of production and aging, we produce two Istrian Malvasias, a fresh and an aged Malvasia, each of which reflects best the features of this white variety. Our pride among the red wines is Gran Teran, a wine of an authentic Istrian character produced from an indigenous Istrian variety.

OTTAVIANO

The Ottaviano wine stands for continuous family viticulture tradition on a demanding but at the same time generous red soil. It represents not only the tradition but also the culture of vinification from grape skins, which is based on generational knowledge, resulting in a wine created by applying modern technologies, with the aim to prevent the use of chemical additives. Ottaviano is produced through fermentation achieved by yeast isolated exclusively from the family's own grape vines and nowadays obtained using sophisticated microbiological technologies. Of course, Ottaviano is not only experience, knowledge and technology. It primarily represents an emotion that pervades numerous memories, traditions, stories, cultures and nobility that live again, today as then, in its aromas, body and complexity. Ottaviano embodies the story of the Istrian vineyard and of the people who have had maintained since always that vineyard with their love, wisdom, persistence and innovation.
